March 29 – Korean Association of Puerto Rico Delivers Support Meals to TSA Officers at SJU Airport Amid Federal Shutdown

Despite the hardship of not receiving pay for over a month, these officers have continued to faithfully carry out their duties to ensure airport safety. To show appreciation and encouragement, the Korean Association prepared and delivered 100 lunch boxes of bulgogi rice bowls.

For this initiative, “Somi Restaurant” contributed by starting meal preparation as early as 3 a.m., adding their heartfelt effort to the cause. TSA officers who received the meals expressed their deep gratitude, saying they were “truly moved by the warm kindness of the Korean community during such a difficult time.”

In particular, this volunteer effort was made even more meaningful by the participation of Ms. Nayoung Kim’s family, Marcello Sotomayor—a scholarship recipient of the Korean Association—and Ms. Shannon Baucom, representing a shared spirit of service across generations.
