Dear Korean Association of Puerto Rico,
With gratitude and admiration, we would like to sincerely thank you for
generously contributing to our initiative to combat food insecurity among medical
students at the Medical Sciences Campus.
Thanks to your support, we have been able to provide food and essential
resources to those who dedicate long hours to their studies, facing not only
academic challenges but also financial difficulties. Your commitment to this cause
has made a significant difference in the lives of our future physicians, providing
them with the peace of mind and sustenance necessary to focus on their
professional preparation.
On behalf of our community and all the students who have benefited, we
extend our sincerest gratitude. Your generosity is a reminder that, together, we can
build a better future for everyone.

푸에르토리코 한인회 이수연입니다. 현재 6명의 의대생에게 장학금을 지원하고 있습니다.
의대생이라고 해서 모두 경제적으로 여유가 있는 것은 아닙니다. 학업과 실습으로 매우 바쁜 가운데 경제적인 어려움까지 겪는 학생들은, 배가 고파도 음식을 사 먹거나 Uber Eats 같은 배달 음식을 이용하는 것조차 부담스러울 때가 있다고 합니다.
이러한 학생들을 위해 의과대학에서는 식량 부족(food insecurity)을 겪는 의대생들에게 음식과 생필품을 제공하는 프로그램을 운영하고 있습니다. 한인회도 이 취지에 공감하여 학생들을 위한 기금을 전달하였고, 오늘 의과대학으로부터 감사 편지를 받았습니다.
우리가 미래의 의사들에게 줄 수 있는 도움은 꼭 장학금만이 아니라는 생각이 듭니다.
바쁜 공부 속에서도 최소한 끼니 걱정 없이 공부할 수 있도록 돕는 작은 지원도 학생들에게는 큰 힘이 될 수 있습니다.
